The Schlage Electronics CO-100 series standalone electronic mortise lock with satin chrome finish and Rhodes-style lever handle is battery powered, provides a secure door latching system for storeroom and classroom use, includes a manually programmed keypad to verify access credentials of up to 500 users, and contains a Schlage cylinder keyway. The lockset assembly functions independently and without a control system; access credentials and lock status are modified using the keypad and are stored on the lock. The 12-button keypad requires a three-to six-digit code to unlock the door and provides increased security compared to cards and manual keys, which can be lost. The mortise lock inserts into a large cutout in the edge of the door, enabling a more secure latch than a cylindrical lock.

The angular Rhodes-style lever handle is made of steel and can be installed as right or left handed. The two included keys and the Schlage 6-pin full cylinder keyway in the base of the lever handle enable mechanical override of the electronic system. Three colored LED lights and an audio signal can be programmed to indicate when credentials are validated or denied. LED lights can also be programmed to indicate when batteries are running low. The inside handle does not lock, allowing users to exit any time.

*H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right not including the lever; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back including the lever.

Electronic door locking systems use electric current to control and secure access. Entry is regulated with a door access device such as a keypad or a reader that limits entry to authorized users. Some systems can designate user access for specific hours or days and may include a keyway for mechanical override. Common electronic locking mechanisms include electromagnetic locks and electric strikes. These systems are hardwired or battery powered, which is suitable when electrical wiring is not readily available. Locks are available in cylindrical and mortise styles. A cylindrical lock requires two bored perpendicular holes in the door for installation: one in the door face and a crossbore hole in the door edge. A mortise lock fits into a pocket recess in the door edge.
